Assessments

Good board governance includes regular assessments of the board of directors.  Assessments can be as simple as a quick evaluation of a board meeting to a thorough reflection of board service.

Board self-evaluations are conducted prior to the CEO/Executive Director performance review, when the organization is experiencing excessive turnover of board members, prior to a capital campaign or strategic planning process, or when a crisis emerges.

Nonprofit Alliance member organizations can request a board assessment. NPA staff can provide your organization with the tools (from BoardSource - a leading national organization specializing in board governance), collect the assessment responses, compile the data and present the results to your board of directors.
